The Sauk Prairie Police Department serves the Villages of Sauk City and Prairie Du Sac. We are located in a beautiful area along the Wisconsin River between Madison and Wisconsin Dells. We moved into our new Police Station facility in June of 2022. Applicants must submit both an DJ-LE-330 Application and Resume. Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
Preventive and directed patrol; Enforcement of federal, state and city laws; Obtain, verify & report information which provides the basis for making arrests; Enforcement of traffic laws & investigation of traffic accidents; Perform the physical functions of police officer. Minimum and Maximum pay rate shown are for current year 2025. There are step increases in between the minimum and maximum as spelled out by the union contract over an 18 month probationary period. There is a 5 percent pay increase in 2026 per union contract. Union contract available upon request.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
Lateral members will be placed on the seniority schedule based on their date of hire with the Department. Lateral transfers are eligible for full hourly wage and vacation benefits based on full time prior law enforcement experience. Vacation for lateral members will be awarded in relation to the union contract years of service vacation scale. Vacation time is awarded at hire but cannot be utilized during Field Training.
