Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Preventive and directed patrol; Enforcement of federal, state and city laws; Obtain, verify & report information which provides the basis for making arrests; Enforcement of traffic laws & investigation of traffic accidents; Perform the physical functions of police officer. Minimum and Maximum pay rate shown are for current year 2025. There are step increases in between the minimum and maximum as spelled out by the union contract over an 18 month probationary period. There is a 5 percent pay increase in 2026 per union contract. Union contract available upon request.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Lateral members will be placed on the seniority schedule based on their date of hire with the Department. Lateral transfers are eligible for full hourly wage and vacation benefits based on full time prior law enforcement experience. Vacation for lateral members will be awarded in relation to the union contract years of service vacation scale. Vacation time is awarded at hire but cannot be utilized during Field Training.   • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
