The City of Beaver Dam Police Department is a great place to start a career in law enforcement. The Department is strongly supported by the community. The Beaver Dam Police Department will send qualified candidates to the 720 hour law enforcement academy and as a bonus you will get paid while attending. We offer an extensive field training program to ensure that new hires are trained properly. Once you are off training there are numerous opportunities that officers can be involved in such as the drug task force, drone team, project lifesaver, bike unit, emergency response team, K-9 unit, and school resource officer just to name a few. There are also opportunities to promote to a detective or supervisor as your career progresses. The Beaver Dam Police Department encourages training and offers numerous opportunities to become instructors in various areas such as DAAT, firearms, EVOC, etc. We offer a 5/3, 5/3, 5/2 work schedule working 8.5 hour days. Responsibilities:
Protect and serve the City of Beaver Dam along with enforcing municipal ordinances and criminal laws.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
The lateral transfer program is for officers currently employed full-time by another agency. Pay, vacation, etc. will be determined by the Chief of Police prior to hire. Further questions about the program can be directed to Lt. Matt Riel.

- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition

- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
