Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
Under direction of the Shift Supervisor monitors and coordinates the daily activities of patrol officers assigned to a specific shift operation. Patrols assigned areas of the City, enforces laws, regulations, and ordinances; investigates illegal activities; interviews victims, witnesses, and suspects; apprehends and arrests offenders; investigates traffic accidents; monitors traffic flow for violations; issues citations and warnings; responds to complaints and takes appropriate action; responds to and investigates alarms; performs searches; performs security checks of businesses and residences; conducts inspections of alcohol licensed premises; transports prisoners; prepares various reports such as incident, accident, citation, and arrest reports; serves legal papers; collects and processes physical evidence and recovered property; appears in court when necessary; in the absence of clerical support personnel enters records of persons, vehicles, and stolen properties through the Transaction Information for Management of Enforcement (TIME) computer system and in accordance with TIME system and Department policies and guidelines; actively participates in required training and educational sessions as an instructor and/or student. Provides medical assistance to injured and ill persons; performs crowd control, traffic, and animal control duties; advises and assists persons such as referring persons to agencies providing social services; and escorts emergency vehicles and funeral processions. Provides support to the Police Department: maintains Department authorized equipment; provides information to the public; and provides presentations to schools, business organizations, civic groups, etc. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- Previous experience
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
