Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

The Jefferson Police Department is seeking candidates to fill open positions or attend the academy in January. Pay is increasing January of 2026 to $32.54 starting and $38.23 top pay. Academy pay is tentatively set at $22.00 an hour while attending. For detailed information contact Captain Schmidt

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

No entrance testing or physical agility testing for lateral transfer candidates. Abbreviated field training program for qualified candidates. Pay rate, vacation, and sick time dependent on qualifications and prior years of service.

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
