Polk County Sheriff's Office is seeking new and experienced candidates to fill the role of Deputy Sheriff. Come work where others vacation. Polk County is located one hour northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul, along the border of Minnesota. Polk County is 900 square miles of beautiful lakes, rivers, woods, and trails. Polk County is home to the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, two state parks, a state forest, six county parks, and over 400 lakes, rivers and streams. For new candidates that have not attended the 720 LESB academy, you will need to pass a Physical Readiness Test. Interested candidates are welcome to come tour our facility and/or do a ride along.

Responsibilities:
The position of Deputy Sheriff involves overall responsibilities of preventing, detecting and investigating crimes, apprehending criminals and other violators. Responding to emergencies and all other calls for Law Enforcement services. Keeping the peace, protecting persons and property and assisting the public. Deputy Sheriffs also assume primary responsibility for traffic enforcement, accident investigation, and assisting the judicial system in pursuing justice. Documenting events and occurrences. A Deputy Sheriff may be assigned primary responsibilities in one or more of the following areas: School Resources Officer, Recreational Patrol Deputy, Canine, Field Training / Instructing, Civil Process Server, Court Services Deputy, Investigation Unit, ERT / SWAT
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
Excepting lateral transfers, 3-5 years experience wage $33.62; 6+ years experience wage $36.21.

- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously

- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
