Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of a law enforcement officer.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Candidates must possess a minimum of 60 college credits, have successfully completed the Wisconsin Basic Recruit School by 12/31/24, or be able to pass the State Reciprocity Exam, and must be able to perform the essential functions of a law enforcement officer. Candidates must be LESB certifiable before being hired. Lateral transfer salary and vacation time adjustments are available for qualified candidates with prior experience as a certified law enforcement officer. Tuition reimbursement for self-funded Recruit School is available upon successful completion of the probationary period

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
