Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Perform all law enforcement duties, including protection of the general public/property. Enforce state and local laws/ordinances. Answer calls for service. Ability to communicate effectively, conduct investigations, write reports, respond to emergencies and conduct / investigate traffic crashes.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Article 21-Lateral transfer union contract. Upon hiring a new employee with prior police experience, the Chief of Police shall have the discretion to set the wage rate and vacation accrual, based on the years of experience of the new hire. The newly hired employee will have seniority based upon, and serve the probationary period specified in sections 1 and 2 of article 13.

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
