Position Responsibilities

Sole general patrol duties for a small rural village. Police department does not provide 24 hour coverage. Work shift times and schedule is very flexible. The Village prefers evenings and weekends shifts. however working some shifts over the July 4 weekend is mandatory. This position is not suited for an inexperienced officer but is great for a recently retired one (not connected to the WRS) .

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Good driving record
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
