Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

The Chief of Police serves as the department director with primary responsibility for administration of the Town of Hayward’s law enforcement activities. The Police Chief is the only full time sworn law enforcement and will be a working Chief, with part time officers. The Chief is responsible for continuing numerous community outreach programs. The Chief is responsible for calls for service, traffic enforcement, community events and ordinance enforcement and works with other area law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications:
• Ability to perform essential functions of this position
• Ability to possess a firearm
• Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
• Driver's license
• Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• No felony convictions
• U.S. citizen
• Ability to work with limited supervision

Other Qualifications
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Education Requirements:
High school diploma
60 college credits / Associate's degree

This position reports directly to the Town of Hayward Board of Supervisors. Salary range is set from $48,000 to $56,000 and is determined based on qualifications.
