Position Responsibilities

Principal duties include but are not limited to: shall actively support and ensure compliance with the mission, policies, procedures, programs, objectives, philosophies, and vision of the department; promote teamwork and a “continuous improvement” initiative; shall direct the day to day department patrol and/or investigative activities of subordinates; issue instructions, directions, directives, memorandums, orders, etc. to coordinate the activities of subordinates to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of service; shall respond to calls for service from the community in the absence of a shift police officer; maintain records on training and firearms qualification; case management, payroll, and assist the Chief of Police with internal investigations and citizen complaints against departmental personnel.

Other Qualifications
  • Must have at least 6 years law enforcement experience and at least 3 years of law enforcement supervisory experience.

60 college credits / Associate's degree
Additional Education Information
Must have at least 60 credits of college level work, a college degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred, with due consideration given for an equivalent combination of experience and recognized professional law enforcement training.
