The City of Ripon is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer from current sworn law enforcement officers and candidates eligible for certification as of 12/31/26. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, have excellent character, possess or be able to obtain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, and be able to perform the essential functions of a law enforcement officer. Candidates must be LESB certifiable before being hired, which includes having completed a minimum of 60 college credits, successfully completed a Wisconsin Basic Recruit School by 12/31/26, or be able to pass the State Reciprocity Exam. Lateral transfer salary and vacation time adjustments are available for qualified candidates with prior experience as a certified law enforcement officer.

- Department uses a 4 days on 5 days off 12 hour shift rotation. equals more time off. 36 hours of personal vacation time each year, vacation time and comp time also earned.
- Residency Pay Increase- additional 2% pay for those living within City of Ripon

- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification

- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
