Help create a safe, secure, and professional environment for inmates, staff, and visitors. - Communicate with people from all walks of life. Build professional rapport, set clear expectations, and use strong communication skills to manage challenging situations. - Think on your feet. Respond to changing situations, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions when it matters. - Be part of a team. Work alongside fellow Corrections Deputies, Dispatchers, Patrol Deputies, supervisors, medical staff, and other criminal justice professionals. - Manage daily jail operations. Conduct security checks, inmate counts, searches, transports, bookings, releases, and other essential duties. - Use communication to de-escalate situations. Recognize problems early and work to resolve them safely and professionally. - Learn the criminal justice system firsthand. Work with courts, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, probation and parole, and other partners. - Use modern technology and equipment. Operate security systems, computerized records, communications equipment, and other correctional technology. - Respond when you're needed. Handle medical situations, disturbances, emergencies, and other unexpected events as part of a trained team. - Make a difference. Treat people with fairness, dignity, and respect while maintaining accountability and enforcing facility rules.
