In addition to meeting the responsibilities of the patrol officer job description the Detective/Investigator must provide a variety of law enforcement services with a particular focus on investigations within the Village of Slinger Police Department under the direction of the Chief of Police and Captain of Police. Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Candidate will be hired as a police officer and immediately appointed to Detective/Investigator. Lateral entry dictates fourth step (out of 5) per the current union contract. Vacation allowance may commensurate with their full-time years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer and follow current contract language.

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations

  • 5 years full-time law enforcement experience
  • Associate's Degree education or higher; Bachelor's Degree preferred
