We are currently looking to fill a PM Shift Police Sergeant position. Officers assigned to this shift work a Pitman 12-hour rotation (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). The sergeant in this role will primarily work Monday through Friday with weekends and holidays off, with a schedule that flexes to meet the operational needs of the shift. This position serves in an on-call supervisory capacity on a rotating basis (approximately once every seven weeks).

Responsibilities:
This position serves as shift commander and is responsible for the supervision of Police Officers and all law enforcement activities that occur during their shift and during times when they are the Staff Duty Officer. The Police Sergeant conducts evaluations and implements disciplinary actions of verbal, written reprimands and recommends suspension or termination of employees for cause. This position arranges schedules, coordinates field operations, maintains liaison with local law enforcement agencies, courts, etc., and coordinates criminal investigations. This position is responsible to ensure compliance with statutes, adopted department rules, policies, and the attainment of department objectives by subordinate law enforcement officers.

- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- Previous experience
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
