Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Patrol officers in the City of Barron are responsible for protecting citizens by preventing crime, enforcing State laws and City ordinances. Duties include responding to calls for service, investigating incidents, conducting traffic enforcement, completing paperwork, participating in community policing events, testifying in court, fulfilling court orders by serving warrants and commitments.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Laterals will be paid at 100 % on day one (38.19) in 2026, (39.72) in 2027 and (41.31) in 2028. There is also a .40 cent night (6P-6A) differential. Normally, new employees without experience will start at 90% of pay, upon 6 months 95% of pay and upon completion of year 1 at 100%. New applicants with no experience being sponsored through the academy will be paid 75% until completion of the academy. Laterals will receive vacation at the number of full-time years in law enforcement after year one aligning with the Union Contract.
