Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
Each patrol deputy is assigned their own take home squad. Patrol deputies that reside within Jefferson County start their shift from their residence, while those that live outside of the county and are within the approved distance from Jefferson County who are able to take their squad home, will start their shift at the county line at their designated shift start time. Deputies will perform routine patrol of assigned area(s). Monitor traffic, issue citations, evaluate hazards and report hazards to appropriate agency and personnel. Respond to citizen complaints, gather information from participants and witnesses. Detain and/or arrest suspects and transport to appropriate agency. Respond to traffic collisions, rollovers and reported hazards. Gather information from participants and witnesses at scenes and prepare reports. Assist emergency medical and rescue personnel with injured individuals and extrications. Prepare incident and accident reports. Assist with traffic and criminal investigations. Protect crime scenes. Prepare for and testifies in court as summoned. Assists Federal, State and municipal agency personnel within County as needed. Performs other duties and assists other Sheriff's Office Divisions as requested.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
Patrol lateral transfer candidates shall have the following qualifications: Certified Law Enforcement Officer through the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board, must have a minimum of sixty (60) college credits, must have three (3) continuous years of full-time, active patrol experience with a Wisconsin Law Enforcement Agency, must successfully pass the Sheriff's Office background investigation, medical evaluation, drug screen, and psychological evaluation.
