Responsibilities:
This is a professional position involving general duty police work in maintaining law and order, enforcing laws and ordinances, keeping the peace and serving the general public. The work involves an element of personal danger, responsibility for protecting life and property as a uniformed police officer, conduct patrol duties for the purpose of deterring criminal/unlawful activity and providing public protection. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Patrol work (on foot, motor vehicles, etc.)
• Investigation of crimes, violations of city Ordinances, traffic accidents, and citizen complaints.
• Apprehending suspects and making arrests. • Appearing and testifying in court, prepare and present evidence.
• Providing assistance to the general public.
• Patrol the City of Green Lake to preserve law and Order; to enforce laws and ordinances; to deter crime and to discover the commission of crimes and ordinance violations.
• Conduct Preliminary and follow-up investigation of crime; collect and preserve evidence; photograph crime scenes; detect and interrogate suspects and interview witnesses; apprehend suspects and make arrests.
• Respond to and investigate citizen complaints, which includes, but is not limited to all complaint categories.
• Enforce motor vehicle and traffic laws; including operating department radar equipment; issue warnings, traffic citations, parking tickets, and non-traffic citations; operation of equipment for the detection of intoxication.
• Respond to and investigate motor vehicle accidents; interviewing drivers and witnesses; gathering information and completing accident reports.
• Check security of business establishments and other related buildings.
• Control crowds at public events and celebrations; direct traffic; handle intoxicated, emotional, disorderly and dangerous persons; mediate disputes.
• Furnish assistance and information to motorists and citizens, and aid persons who are ill or injured.
• While patrolling the City investigate and report obstructions and other hazards that might constitute danger to the public;(Examples: Traffic Signs damaged or removed, streetlights out, hazardous road conditions).
• Transport prisoners as needed.
• Keep records and compile complete and accurate information, write concise reports.
• Performs other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Chief of Police or Sergeant.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
Lateral transfers with a minimum 1-year patrol experience are welcomed with elevated wages & accrued vacation time.

Qualifications:
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
