The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Division of Finance and Administrative Affairs is currently seeking to fill two Police Officer positions for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Police Department. These positions may be filled as either a Police Officer I or Police Officer II, based on the successful candidates’ qualifications. Police Officers serve as law enforcement officers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. These positions function with full arrest powers under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant. Many investigations and duty assignments are conducted independently. Responsibilities are generally complex and demanding and require the skills, abilities, and training (provided). Police Officers will be expected to become thoroughly familiar with the Police Department policies, procedures, rules, regulations and memoranda, as well as the University Staff Code of Conduct. The principal duties of a University Police Officer are to provide for the personal safety of all persons on campus, ensure a peaceful environment in which the academic pursuits of the University can be realized, prevent and identify criminal activity, and to apprehend those involved in such activity. Many additional services are also provided to students, faculty, staff, and members of the greater community.

Ensures the safe and orderly flow of traffic on institutional roadways and enforces traffic laws Provides personal safety and crime prevention education to institutional community Provides protection of life, property, and the preservation of peace and good order and provides emergency aid to the institutional community Engages in problem solving, threat mitigation, and conflict resolution for a wide range of issues and incidents involving citizens, groups, campus entities, government agencies, businesses, leaders, and others Performs preliminary and follow-up investigations to solve crimes, identify suspects and victims, apprehend criminals, and document case information
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
For Lateral Transfer applicants who are selected for employment from another law enforcement agency as a full-time sworn officer, we will match completed continuous, full-time years of service and apply to the pay grid below as the starting wage up to year 5. See agency posting for more info.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously

- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
