Position Responsibilities

The Independence Police Department is seeking a community-minded individual to fill an immediate Police Officer vacancy. Responsibilities include enforcing laws and ordinances, patrol duties, responding to calls for services, taking citizen complaints, resolving disputes, investigating crime, and protecting public safety. Officers work a 5 on 5 off 2 on 2 off schedule which totals 80 hours in a pay period. Interviews for this process will be on Wednesday, January 21st at the City of Independence City Hall located at 23688 Adams Street Independence, WI 54747.

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations

High school diploma
60 college credits / Associate's degree
Additional Education Information
Applicants must have 60 college credits and have successfully completed the Police Academy.
