Position Responsibilities

A chosen candidate will be responsible for serving the needs of the community through excellent community response. This includes: protecting and adhering to constitutional afforded rights of citizens; protecting life, property and freedom and preventing crime through community policing. Resolving issues in the community with patience and respect, and adhering to the mission and goals of the City of Prescott and the Prescott Police Department. A chosen candidate MUST display courage, respect, integrity and honor to work at the Prescott Police Department.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Individuals with prior proven law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply. Individuals with prior proven law enforcement experience may enter the pay and vacation scale at the rate equivalent to their years of service. These candidates must have 1+ years of service, and be leaving or have left their agency in good standing.

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20

High school diploma
60 college credits / Associate's degree
Additional Education Information
