RECRUITMENT-POLICE OFFICER The Village of Hartland Police Department is accepting applications for a full-time police officer. Certified applicants that have completed or are accepted or currently in a law enforcement academy may apply and shall follow the directions listed in this advertisement. Lateral transfers are encouraged to apply. The Village of Hartland is located approximately 20 miles west of Milwaukee, in the Lake Country region of Waukesha County. The Hartland Police Department has 18 full-time officers that provide 24 hour a day coverage to the community. Lateral Transfer Program Details:
LATERAL TRANSFERS: A newly hired Officer with at least three (3) years of full-time experience as a certified law enforcement officer, in the forty-eight (48) months prior to hire, will qualify for a lateral transfer to the Hartland Police Department with the following conditions. 1. The Officer shall be granted up to eleven (11) days of vacation upon hire, which will be prorated based on the Officer’s start date during the calendar year. The Officer will accrue vacation based on the number of consecutive years of full-time certified law enforcement officer employment in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. The Officer will be allowed to use vacation time immediately upon the start of employment, provided there is availability on the schedule and the Officer is not on field training. 2. The Officer shall be granted forty (40) hours of sick leave upon hire. Thereafter, additional sick leave will be earned in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. 3. An Officer who receives an accelerated vacation benefit and terminates employment prior to completing six (6) months of employment will not be eligible for a vacation payout. 4. The Officer’s rate of pay will be based on the number of consecutive years of full-time certified law enforcement employment in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. 5. The Officer’s seniority date will be based on his/her hire date with the Hartland Police Department.

- Starting Wage: $70,798.27 (2025)/Top Wage: $96,682.72 (2025) after 4 years. (1.5% longevity pay added after 5 years with the Hartland Police Department).

- Possess a valid driver’s license, absent of any major traffic convictions.
- No felony convictions or other criminal convictions that conflict with the ability to be a law enforcement officer.
- No domestic violence related convictions.
- Associate degree or a minimum of 60 college credits obtained by date of hire. No exceptions.
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification.
