Position Responsibilities

Under supervision, performs a wide variety of police and law enforcement activities. Tasks are primarily service-oriented and include dispensing information, arbitrating disputes, providing assistance through referrals, property protection, crime prevention, investigative, and other public safety services. Duties include an element of personal danger, exposure to adverse conditions, apprehending criminals, directing traffic, and transporting prisoners. Incumbents perform duties in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes, Federal Law and Local Ordinances, and established departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. The incumbent must be able to act without close supervision and must be able to exercise good independent judgment. Work is reviewed through observation, conferences, and review of written reports for results obtained and adherence to established policies and procedures. May be authorized to assume the duties of a Sergeant in their absence. Performs other work as requested or assigned. Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; rotating 12-10 hour shift schedule, 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off every other weekend off, hours may vary from 4hr-6hr-12hr as needed. Possibility of transitioning from Part-time to Full-time status

Qualifications:

Qualifications
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations

60 college credits / Associate's degree
