This description provides an overview of what will be expected of you but is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required: Essential All essential duties as assigned to Police Officers. Be adept at and be able to perform all functions relating to police operations. Supervision of Police Officers to include scheduling of personnel, review and approval of written reports, assigning workload, approving off time requests, and acting as shift commander. Ensure compliance with Department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures for the orderly, safe and efficient operations of the Police Department. Direction and review of police administrative practices of the Police Department. Responsible for training all Police Department Personnel to include direction of training and scheduling of training. Supervise and direct police officers in the performance of their duties. Schedule, plan, and direct patrol operations. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures. Complete performance evaluations of personnel. Review and investigate all citizen complaints. Conduct internal investigations involving alleged improper conduct by Police personnel. Assist in the annual preparation and submission of the Police Department budget. Non-essential Represent the police department in meetings, committees, and public forums. Research and develop new methods of operation to enhance the Police Department operations. Prepare, analyze, and authorize technical and administrative reports, including attendance at training sessions, injury reports and any other reports as required by State law or as directed by the Chief. Foster positive relationships with community organizations, public safety agencies, and other stakeholders to promote effective collaboration and information sharing. Participate in special projects, such as the development of new training programs or the implementation of new technology. Write grants for funding. Accept and respond to employee grievances at Step 1 level. Attend trainings and conferences. Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.

Qualifications
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • Vision correctable to 20/20

Other Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a related field required.

Additional Education Information
Associates degree at minimum. Bachelor's degree, in a related field, preferred.
