Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Performs difficult protective service work managing the daily operation of the County Jail, maintaining the overall security of the facility, ensuring daily facility and inmate inspections are completed, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Jail Administrator/Captain. Continuous oversight is exercised over Deputy Jailer.

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20

Other Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and considerable experience in corrections, law enforcement, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of Jailer certification upon hire.
  • Possession of Automated External Defibrillator, first aid, mental health and suicide prevention, intoxameter, Taser, defense spray, and self-contained breathing apparatus training upon hire.
  • Obtain first-line supervisor training within 1 year of hire.
