Starting wage - $25.59, 6 months - $26.47, 1 year - $27.40, 2 years -$28.29, 3 years - $29.36, 4 years - $30.37, 5 years - $30.87, Top Patrol Pay After 8 years - $33.42. Officers work a 12 hour Pitman schedule (2 on - 2 off, 3 on – 2 off, 2 on – 3 off) with one shift being 8 hours. Employees shall live within 35 road miles from Main Street and Depot Street in the City of Seymour as condition of employment.

Responsibilities:
The City of Seymour is accepting applications to fill one vacancy for the position of Police Officer. This position is within the Patrol Division. Work involves the following responsibilities: provide a variety of law enforcement services, to include patrolling assigned areas; enforcing laws and ordinances; investigating criminal activity; gathering evidence; apprehending violators; maintaining public order, protecting life and property and assisting the public. Work is performed under direct supervision of the Police Sergeant and Chief of Police. Provides basic law enforcement services including, but not limited to, response to disputes, crimes, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, traffic problems, and natural disasters. Identify and investigate suspicious activity and/or suspected crimes against persons, property or public interest as observed and reported. Maintain regular punctual and predictable attendance, work overtime and extra hours as required. Perform detailed follow-up investigations and prepare cases for prosecution. Conduct criminal, non-criminal, and traffic-related investigations. Perform traffic control and enforcement. Provide testimony regarding actions taken as part of official duties. Assist emergency medical and fire personnel and provide first responder aid at scenes, including traffic accidents with injuries and extrication. Participate in all required training and maintain LESB certification.
