Responsibilities:
The Monroe Police Department is seeking energetic, community minded individuals to fill an immediate Police Officer vacancy, and to create an eligible list for future anticipated needs. Monroe officers are guardians of the community. Responsibilities include: enforcing laws and ordinances, preventive patrol by vehicle, bike or foot, responding to calls for service, assisting all persons with the needs. Monroe officers take complaints, answer questions, resolve disputes and protect public safety. Our officers receive considerable training, and obtain experience in special tactics, special events and community policing.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
Experienced officers may be able to start employment at a higher rate of pay and with a vacation bank. With 1 year experience, start at 1 year rate and 1 week vacation, 2 years, 2 year rate and 2 weeks vacation, 3 years, 3 year rate and 2 weeks vacation, 4 years, 4 year rate and 2 weeks vacation, 5+ years, 5 year rate and 2 weeks vacation.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
