**effective 1-1-2024, an additional 2% increase per current bargaining agreement. ** The duties of a Patrol Officer will include: performing security patrol, traffic control, investigation, render first-aid, detect and prevent criminal acts and arrest persons involved in crimes or misconduct. The Patrol Officer uses independent judgement within the guidelines established by the policies and procedures of the department in deciding courses of action to handle difficult and emergency situations without assistance.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Lateral Entry The City shall be allowed to hire certified Officers who have worked for other Police Departments and establish that Officer within the salary structure. Such placement shall be totally within the discretion of the Chief or his/her designee. Promotional opportunities for any person so placed shall be within the complete discretion of the Chief or his/her designee. Lateral entry Officers can be placed in the current vacation schedule by the Chief or his/her designee based on their prior experience not to exceed the allowance provided to members under the current vacation schedule. . All other fringe benefits, seniority based selection opportunities, as well as probationary status shall not be affected by such lateral transfer. The minimum years of service to qualify for a lateral entry shall be five years as a full-time certified Officer in Wisconsin or another state. Military service shall not be included.

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen

Any such officer who receives or holds a degree from an accredited college or university and presents such certification to the Chief of Police and has attained Step IV shall receive the following monthly compensation not to be pyramided:


Bachelor’s Degree $100.00
Master’s Degree $125.00
Doctorate $150.00
Associate (if hired before 1/1/1996) $75.00
