Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
As a Coordinated Response Specialist (CRS) you will coordinate and operate the Pre-Booking Deflection program, as well as provide community outreach. The CRS will work closely with local law enforcement to enhance responses to mental health and substance use related calls for service. The person in this position will also work in coordination with multiple divisions including the Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, and Health and Human Services. This position includes a significant amount of community-based services.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions

- Vision correctable to 20/20

Education Requirements:
COMPAS trained or willing to be COMPAS trained with the ability to complete core assessments to identify risk level and criminogenic needs.
Complete State on-line training to be approved as screener for MH/AODA functional screen within six months of hire.
Complete 40 hours of Crisis Services training within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Training and Experience:
Two years of experience in handling persons at various levels of crisis, and experience with mental health, substance use disorders, and/or social work.
