Position Responsibilities

The Patrol Officer uses independent judgement within guidelines established by the policies and procedures of the department in deciding courses of action to handle difficult and emergency situations sometimes without assistance. Officers duties include maintaining a safe community through patrol activities, responding to calls, crime prevention, problem solving, conducting criminal investigations, enforcing state laws & local ordinances including traffic laws, ability to communicate and resolve conflicts, testify in court, complete official records & reports. The Officer must exhibit a great amount of discretion and a working knowledge of criminal law, city ordinances and department policies when dealing with the citizens of the community. Our Officers serve the citizens and visitors to the city and respond to requests for assistance. The Officers not only enforce all laws and ordinances but they uphold the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Wisconsin
