Position Responsibilities

The Chief of Police is primarily responsible for the administration and provision of law enforcement services. The Chief is dual hatted as Director of Emergency Management for the City. The Police Department has eight full-time sworn officer positions, four part-time sworn officer positions, and one full-time administrative assistant position.

Qualifications
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
Other Qualifications
  • Ideal candidates will possess great verbal and written communication skills and 3 years of supervisory and budget experience in a 4th Class City, Village, or Town police department.
